Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) are a major focus at Harris Fields. At Harris Fields we believe that having technology in the classroom can bring tremendous advantages to learners and provide many engaging lessons.
Each double teaching space has access to a pod of computers that are connected to the internet. Our library has recently been upgraded with two pods of 6 computers to be used for study purposes.
In 2006 with assistance from a federal grant, HFSS purchased 11 SMART Boards. A SMART Board act as a 'to uch screen' between a computer, a data projector and the screen. It allows the user to control a computer not only with a mouse and keyboard, but also with their finger or a SMART Board pen to select or highlight a specific item. Anything you can do with a mouse, you can do with your finger - touching the screen with your finger has the same effect as a mouse click or drag.
There are 22 classes at Harris Fields with a total of 11 wall mounted SMART Boards; each double teaching area has a smart board that is shared between classes. Harris Fields also has 2 portable SMART Board that can be used almost anywhere in the school.
